A Month of Trumoil.

Sorry that I've not posted in months but seems like we have been busier than usual. We started 3 weeks ago doing a little remodeling on the house. We have had all new windows put in.....some closed up since this house had too many. Along with putting the new windows in...........had all bedrooms retexured and painted along with all new baseboards and trim. It's been a major overhaul in a couple of the rooms. Carpenter commented that the wood in these older homes is nothing like they use now.........good and sturdy . Where he closed up two of the windows in the living room he built two beautiful bookshelves for me which im going to put glass shelves in with a light. Perfect for all my pictures of all my babies............. Hopefully they will be finished by Wednesday with the inside. Then they will do all the trim on the outside. I have moved stuff from room to room and covered stuff for three weeks now, ready to get back to normal.

Shelby is doing well, she tries to follow the workers around and outside. Have to pen her up at times. She has quite a personality! Last night I saw that her eyes were droopy and i said, "Let's go to your room." She followed me in and walked into her kennel.

Will try to get some pics posted after everything is completed. Now I have to look for new curtains and comforters.

Summer Fun at Nana's and Paps's

Kimberly and the three kids came in for a wonderful visit. We started out the week with a trip to the beach where we went on the dolphin watch, played at the beach and even went for a dip in the pool at the hotel the morning before we came home. One afternoon the kids played in the pool at the house for 3 hrs., they slept well that night. Aaron and Allison harvested my tomatoes one day for me. Papa got a real kick out of Trevor going into his bedroom quite often and calling out his name. I have never watched so much of Hanna Montana and the Jonas Brothers........kids favorite shows! Kimberly and the kids went to visit Grandma while they were here, which thrilled her I'm sure. There is nothing like having your grandkids visit........is really brightens up your life.

Has been a while since I updated the blog but not much news. Our exciting news for the next couple of weeks is that we are having the kids come in. Monday Kaylee and Kristy fly in for week, Dan will be coming in Friday with Spec and Molly. They will all be leaving on Sunday to get back to their routine. Then the following week-end The Hawkins clan, along with Buddy will be coming in. Ryan has to leave on Sunday, while Kimberly and the kids will be staying until the next Thursday. Dale and I are so excited about seeing them all. Don't have much planned, we will play it by ear other than i want to take Aaron and Allison on the Dolphin Watch boat one day. Then Dale and I will be going up the following for our little Kaylee's first birthday..........wow, where has a year gone. Dale's foot is progressing again very well.

Kaylee's 1st Visit to South Padre

Dan, Kristy, and I took Kaylee and the two dogs to the beach one morning while Dale was still in the hospital. The water was a little chilly but Kaylee and the dogs had a blast. That little princess is such a joy and she brightened up Nana and Papa's week after our trying times with Dale's health issues. While Dan was here he did some manly jobs around the house for us. Kristy and Kaylee stayed with us a few more days and Kristy spoiled her Dad cooking for him. Dale is continuing to improve......we are still going to the hospital for infusion and the home health nurse is coming daily also. Thanks to everyone for all their prayers!

The winds are blowing 40mph here today.....................whew! The weather has really been nice except for the wind the last couple of days. It is time to start watering the yard and thinking about planting some tomatoes in big posts. Just got a call from Kristy and they are coming down next Tuesday for the week, I'm so excited to see little Kaylee..............and of course Dan , Kristy, Spec and Molly too. Dan is hoping to get some fishing in and they want to take Kaylee to the ocean while they are down .

Our New Car!

We downsized a little and bought a Ford Edge. It is silver with light grey interior. Not only did we get a fantastic deal on it but we will save on gas. I'm still trying to get used to all the buttons on it. Drives really nice and I'm especially enjoying the satellite radio. Has a sync system in it where we can talk on cell hands free if we have a bluetooth phone, have to see about getting one of those next.

Trip To Houston

We took a 5 day trip to Houston this past week. While there we celebrated Dale's birthday at Kimberlys.
The girls outdid themselves is showing their Dad a good time, he is still bragging about it. I got to pick Allison up from school one day and attended Aaron's Field Day at school. On Sunday we all attended Kaylee's dedication at their church and Kristy and Dan put on a feed for about 25 people afterwards, it was a beautiful day. Dale and I had a wonderful time and can't wait till we see them all again.

It's been awhile......

It's been awhile since I've updated so thought it was time to do so. Dale and I had a wonderful time in Houston , celebrating Christmas with the kids and grandkids. Little ones do bring out the joyous season in us all. While we were there we got to see my niece Heather and her husband , they flew in from Germany for the holidays. It was so good to see them and looking forward to them being back in the states. Dale did very well on the trip, foot is doing about the same.....doc is ordering some kind of boot for him to walk with, guess we will see if this helps any. A week ago Tuesday I woke up with a very still and sore elbow which i tried to pamper and doctor myself. Finally gave up on Friday, doctor said i had an infected bursitis......evidently from a blow or putting too much pressure on my elbow . Who knows where and when i did it, go figure. He put me on 2 antibiotics and pain killers, also soak it with warm salt wraps three times a day. Went back this morning and it had localized but not as well as he wanted it. So guess what? Needle went up the ole arm and drew out some puss, he said this might speed it up a little and another week of meds. Been very painful so ive been living on pain killers, tired of sleeping all the time.

The grandbabies are growing before our eyes. Aaron is so intelligent he scares me sometimes. Allison is our little drama queen and she cracks us up with her cutesy ways. Little Trevor is making up for lost time. He used to be laid back but now that he is crawling you never know where he is going to be. Still a happy little boy with a smile for everyone.
Kaylee grows everytime I see her and getting such a cute little personality. She sure lets you know if she doesnt like something and oh yes, she does like to be held alot. We love them so much and thank god everyday for their lives and joys they bestow upon us.

Kristy has a wedding to be in down here in february so her and kaylee will probably be coming in January for a bridal shower and then again in February for the wedding. Then her dedication at their church is on March 8th so God willing Dale and I will be flying to that.

Thanksgiving was a blast with all the kids here.......Holidays were made to be around family that is for sure. I'm a little late in updating but a lot has been going on since Thanksgiving. Right after everyone left Dale had a problem with what we were afraid was his kidneys. His doctor prescribed him a medication to take which he felt had something to do with an enlarged prostrate. With a lot of tender prayers and the grace of God he is doing much better. Him and I have been battling with colds and feeling under the weather but doing much better.
We will still be facing the possibility of dialysis after the 1st of the year though, so continued prayers will be appreciated. Dale's Mom had a light stroke this past weekend but is holding her own, still at home . Poor Kristy has had severe back pain for a week now and can not take much for hit due to her nursing Kaylee. Her loving sister in law and mother in law have been helping her out, Judy and Jill you are angels. Kimberly's family have had their share of sickness this past week, one gets over and the other catches......that's how it seems to go! I'm trying to get my shopping done this week. Dale's says he will fine for the trip to Houston for Christmas so we will see. We will see the kidney doctor on the 18th and that will confirm it I'm sure. Hope everyone is having a joyous holiday season!

I had a wonderful relaxing birthday this year.... The day before my birthday Judy(Kristy's mother in law), was on her way to the island for a meeting so her and a friend took me out for lunch. It was really nice to get to visit with them for awhile. Then, on my birthday several friends called to wish me a good day and will be takeing me out for dinner one night this next week. Allison called her Nana to wish her a happy happy birthday , which delighted me so. Kimberly talked to me as well and said Aaron would be calling after school. Kristy and Dan called while they were driving in the car , Kaylee was yelling and Dan said that was her greeting. Dale surprised me with the beautiful flowers and a snack basket plus a dinner from Longhorn....love their ribs! Aaron and Ryan called that evening to complete my day. I also had several cards via

While my friend Kay went to Dallas this weekend I offered to take care of her 3 month old puppy Dolly. Now I remember why I don't want any more dogs. She is the sweetest puppy but very high maintenance, you have to be a step ahead of this one. Kay has spoiled her rotten, every move I made she was beside me or laying at my feet. Each time I took her outside she would not go unless I was with her. When it was time to go to bed she marked her spot and would not move to the other side of the bed. Every time I would move she would move closer to me ,her mommy sleeps with her so she is used to that. You don't leave anything lying around cause it goes straight to her mouth, she liked chewing on my Reef Sandals......not by choice I might add. I took her outside once and I let her back in while I did something outside. Well, when I got back in she was in the dishwasher snooping. This morning while I was in the shower, guess who tried to jump in with me........yep, Dolly. She doesn't like the door shut between me and her, or she will bark until you open it. When I would hear her bowls being pushed all around the kitchen that usually meant she was hungry or thirsty. I didnt fill her water bowl full because she has a habit of dumping it out. Dale enjoyed playing around with her but for some reason she stuck to me like glue. She is a smart little thing but don't leave her alone in a room for very long.

1st Visit to Nana and Papa's

We had a fun filled time with Kristy, Dan, Kaylee and Katie here for a few days. Katie's house was still without electricity in Houston so we were thrilled to have her visit with us . While they were visiting we went to the outlet mall in Mercedes twice, a drive to the beach, lunch with a couple of Kristy's friends from high school and Dan went hunting twice. Also Kaylee was introduced to Great Grandma Wood and had two nice visits with her.

Mommy and Daddy went out on a dinner date for a couple of hours while Kaylee stayed with Nana and Papa, all did very well. Was almost certain Kristy would call a couple of times while she was gone to check on her since it was her first time to leave her any length of time, but she said she knew she was in good hands. To say the least, I was delighted to watch her..............she is such a good baby! They packed up and left on Sunday and of course I shed a few tears, hate to say goodbye to those grandbabies.

As of right now, it looks like we have been spared the torture of Ike. I'm worried for my girls and their families since he looks like he is going to strike in the Houston area. Going through Dolly was enough and she was barely a category 2, I can't imagine a 3 or 4. My friend Judy and her family are planning on coming this way tomorrow since we have been lifted out of the realm. I was worried in the beginning that the girls weren't taking it seriously, but they both assured me that they were preparing today. Everyone please be safe and your in our prayers.

Looks like as of 2:00 p.m Tuesday we are line to get Ike. By no means am I ready for another one. As it stands right now, it can hit from Corpus Christi on down. I ran to the store this morning and stocked up on some food and water, we do have the generator so we can perserve the food this time in the refrigerator alone with Dale's insulin. I need to go this evening and get more batteries and maybe some charcoal and lighter for the pit. Tommorrow I will fill up with gas and get the gas for the generator. My carpenter has been alerted to come and put the boards back up if it does indeed come our way. Kay is suppose to come stay with us this time since her husband is working in Houston and kids . Together and with prayers we will make it through Ike. Will keep everyone posted..............

It's That Time Again!

It's been about a month since I've seen my kids, so it is time. My girlfriend Kay is going to Houston over Labor Day for a family gathering and asked me if I wanted to ride along with her. Of course I jumped at the chance, knowing Dale would not have any appointments after Friday morning. He can only handle the trips periodically so he will be staying home this time and will do fine as long as I have everything he needs on hand. We will be leaving Friday after Kay gets off and arrive in Houston around 10:00 p.m. I'm estimating. The little ones grow up so fast so I feel fortunate now that I've retired to go see them more often. I hope to make all their special moments while they are young. I have not regretted retiring in the least. I will post again with pics after my trip. Have a Safe and Happy Labor Day Weekend !

Good Times With the Grandkids!

Dale and I spent about a week in Houston visiting the family. We left on Monday after his appointment and stayed till the following Sunday. On Tuesday Kimberly and the kids came over to Kristy's to spend the day with us. Thursday Dale and I went to Kimberly and Ryan's for the day and had the pleasure of watching one of Aaron's basketball games, quite a little player he is. Both him and Allison wanted to go have a sleepover at Aunt Kiki's so we took them back with us for the night, they were so good. Then on Friday Kimberly and Trevor came over to spend the night with us also since Ryan was going on a fishing trip with his brother. To say the least, it was not dull with four kids and two dogs. I'm so proud of my two girls, they are both such good mommies! Aaron and Allison are growing up so fast and are so cute, you never know what they are going to think of next or say. Little Trevor is one of the happiest babies I have ever been around , him and Nana got a lot of quality time together this time. Our precious little Kaylee turned 1 month old when we were there, she is so adorable.

Hurricane Dolly

Hello Dolly! was our slogan in the Rio Grande Valley Wednesday. Dale and I weathered out Dolly
with minimal damage. The eye of the hurricane was very slow so needless to say it sat on us for hours. The highest winds were around 100 mph. We had our two larger trees in the front break and one at the side of the house, which I was sweating because my car was close. As it turned out , it landed about 6 inches from my grill. The blowing rain blew in our vents on the top of the roof and leaked down the ceiling fan, which was over the bed. I placed a plastic sheet over the bed and put 4 tubs to catch water dripping from each light bulb. Needless to say..... I was emptying the tubs often for about 6 or 7 hrs. The winds were strong around 10 a. m. and we lost electricity but was still able to keep in touch with the girls occasionally with cell phones. The windows were boarded up so Dale sat at the front glass door and watched the whole hurricane. He probably would have rolled his wheelchair out in the middle of it if I wasn't here. The first night was not too uncomfortable because of the rain it was cool. We opened the front window , laid our mattress on the floor and tried to get a few winks of sleep. The only light we had was flashlights and candles. Thursday was very hot and humid and we kept ourselves entertained by looking at the debris all over our street that had blown down. Uprooted and blown down trees blocked our street for hours until the city came and pushed trees up into the yards. Thursday night Dale got too hot and his sugar took a nose dive. After putting wet towels on him and drinking a couple of cokes with some cookies he felt better. We both did not sleep too good that night. Friday we propped the glass door open and sat in front of door and window with wet towels over our heads to stay cool. About 11:30 p.m. our wonderful son-in-laws came to our rescue. Ryan and Dan drove down from Houston with two big ice chest with ice, which was scarce and drinks. They brought a generator which they hooked up and we had cool bedrooms and lights for the first time in three days. Saturday morning they got up and worked like trojans clearing out our yard.....Thank you Dan and Ryan, we love you both! Our girls have chosen two wonderful men to share their lives with and we love you for sharing them with us. Late Saturday the electricity returned along with cable tv..............YEAH!!!!!!!! There are still around 5,000 homes in San Benito without electricity, we don't realize how spoiled we are until we dont have it. Thank you for all the prayers and concerns sent our way. I truly believe our Lord and Savior was with us through this, some were not as lucky as we were. We will be leaving tomorrow after Dale's appointment for Houston to be witih our whole family for about a week. More pictures will be posted on shutterly later. Dan took more pictures of sites around town, they will probably be on their blog at a later date.

I am back home after a two week stay in Houston . Kaylee Renee is such a precious gift from God. Mommy, Daddy and Kaylee were doing magnificent when I left. Kristy popped back from having a c-section in a couple of weeks, she looks great and such a wonderful mommy. Dan is a proud papa and gets up and changes diapers when he is off. I feel like very fortunate that I was able to spend time with my 4th grandchild and had the opportunity to go to Allison's gymnastics class and Aaron's basketball game. Kimberly took the kids shopping one day and I spent some quality time with baby Trevor, he is such a happy baby. My prayers were answered that I would be able to go and be with them when I was needed, the lord provided friends and family to look in on Dale . His foot is doing better and he is due to have some more laser surgery on his eyes in the future. We are planning on making a trip to Houston in about a week and a half so he can meet our precious Kaylee.

Kristy gave birth to Kaylee Renee Monday at 6:53 a.m. I received the call from Kimberly Monday morning around 4:00 a.m. I had my shower, bags packed, reservation made and on the plane at 6:30. I arrived in Houston around 7:30 and walked into the hospital at 9:00. Kristy had begun to have horrible back pain in the middle of the night, she had a friend stay with her since Dan was working nights. Her back pain got so bad that she called her sister and she told her to go to the hospital, which they got ahold of Dan and he rushed home and took her in. As it turned out the baby's heartbeat was really high so her doctor decided that the baby needed to come out immediately due to the distress.....................so she was born at 6:53 a.m. Kaylee weighed in at 7lbs. 11 ounces, 19.5 inches with lots of dark hair. Both mommy and daughter are doing great and are home. I will be staying awhile to help out around the house and whatever they need for me to do since she did have major surgery. Baby Kaylee is so beautiful and is loved by all.

We are leaving around 12 for Dale's doctor appointment in McAllen, he will be getting the 3rd skin graft....which seems to be looking pretty good. After we get finished there we will be traveling to Houston, spending the first night with Kristy and Dan. Tomorrow we will be going to our little princess Allison's dance recital. She is so excited, has been telling everyone Papa is bringing her M&M's. Sunday morning our little man Trevor is going to be baptized, what a blessing to be able to witness. Monday Kristy goes for an her appointment to see when Miss Kaylee is going to decide to join us. If we have plenty of time Dale and I will travel back to San Benito for a few days till we get the word that time is near, then back in the car we will be heading for Houston again........ Can't wait to see everyone!

Retirement Party!

Today the loving staff of Ed Downs honored me with a beautiful retirement party. My principal presented me with a gift and a touching speech, there wasn't a dry eye in the room including him. When it was my turn to talk, I really lost it when they wanted me to read the card that came with a bouquet. It read, "Congratulatioins on your Retirement! Hope you enjoy your retirement with me. Love, Dale." The staff gave me a beautiful diamond circle necklace, which the assistant principal said symbolized the circle of friends that I had made while at Ed Downs. The P.T.O. president also presented me with a beautiful plaque. It was so touching and an emotional event. I assured all that I would come and visit and also do some volunteering. I love the kids and I know I will miss them all.

Spring Break

My Spring Break was this week and I have mostly rested and getting ready for the kids coming in next week. They will be here Sunday.....Ryan, Kimberly,3 kiddos and Kristy . We are really anxious to see them all, its been since Christmas that we saw them last. Kimberly is planning a shower for Kristy while they are down here, what a sweet sis!
Dale acquired a water blister on the back of his heel on the good foot. Doctor feels like it was because his leg swelled from sitting too long and then he put a heating pad on it and he said that was a no no. He didn't seem too worried about it, just said to wash it with soap and water and we will see what it looks like this Monday. Oh well, like i said before..... we take one day at a time. Prayers have gotten us through before and they will do the same now.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend, we are going to have a busy week but will love every moment of it. I'm taking a convienence day on Wednesday and being sick on Thursday.......Ha!
The kids will be here from Sunday till Friday, cant wait!

It's A Girl........................

Kristy and Dan found out today it's a precious little girl, Kaylee Renee. We are all so excited! It evens the number out for Dale and I......two boys and two girls. Dan bought his daughter her first outfit, pink camoflauge capris and a pink top. I have a feeling she is going to be following daddy around with a fishing pole in her hand . Can't wait until she is here !

Big Day Tomorrow......

Tomorrow March 6th, Dan and Kristy go for their ultrasound to find out if we are going to have a boy or girl. Everyone is on pins and needles waiting to see whether Dan is going to have a little boy to take fishing or that special little girl beside him ........
Today was writing Taks , one down and 2 more to go. Don't know about Kristy but this old lady is tired!

Next week is our Spring Break, yeah.............Don't have much planned, may go see Judy in Corpus for a couple of days. The following week is the kids break and they are all coming home, can't wait to see them. Ryan, Kimberly, Kristy and the three kids are all coming together. Poor Dan has to work. Haven't seen Trevor since he was born, Aaron and Allison have grown like weeds im sure. Get to see how big Kristy's tummy has gotten, I still can't believe my baby is having a baby.

Dale is making plans............he wants to surprise his mom on her 90th birthday with a little party. Both girls and families are going to plan to make it , they feel its pretty special for their grandma to be 90 years old. She will be 90 on May5th, we will try and gather on the weekend before.

A Week of Not Feeling up to Par!!!!

I have missed two days of work with what the doctor felt like it may be the beginning of a small boil in my nose...........ouch it hurt so bad. Wednesday I came home at noon cause my nose and right side of my face was so swollen. The doctor put me back on the Bactrim and some cream. Today was the first day that I have felt chipper. The good part was that my girlfriend Judy was here this week and she has been a lifesaver. Bless her, she did shopping at the store for us twice.......really meant a lot to me. I think she is leaving tommorrow to go back home, really going to miss her. Hope everyone is doing well.....the cream i apply is suppose to wart of germs that turn into MRSA.

Today we went for Dale's report on his heart echo gram he had last week. For a change, we had a terrific report. His cardiologist said that his heart has gotten better than it was, which is due to a medication that he is taken. I can't tell you how great is was to have a good report for a change. His foot is coming along as well. The skin graft took and now I'm back dressing it again twice a day but can see where it is really progressing. Keep the prayers coming that we will see the end of the tunnel soon.
I told my principal yesterday that this is going to be my last year. We both teared up a little, he has been so understanding the past five years in letting me adjust my class schedules to fit all the appointments . He said he understood that I was doing this for my family and myself and that he expected me to drop in often for a visit. I've told the teachers that I would probably come and volunteer from time to time.
Hopefully this will give us an opportunity to see our kids and grandkids more often. I will miss the school and all my friends but there is nothing that compares to your own family!!!!

A New Grandson for Nana and Papa

We were in Houston for Christmas and a delightful and surprising one it was. We received a call from Kimberly that they were on their way to the hospital on Christmas eve morning , she was about to deliver Trevor Joseph. A while later she called and asked me to come to the hospital to witness my third grandchild be born and of course what grandmother would pass that up. I hopped in the car not knowing where I was going in the big town of Houston. Dan was gracious enough to get me from their house to I-10 and then Kristi Bench, Kimberly's best friend directed me to the front door of the hospital. I was there in plenty of time and witnessed Trevor arriving just in time for Christmas. He weighed in at 6lbs.-13oz. and was191/2 inches long. He is such a beautiful baby and a good one at that. Christmas eve Dale, Kristy,Dan and I had the pleasure of spending quality time with Aaron and Allison for Santa. It was truly the most memorable Christmas we have had in a long time. We are very blessed to have a beautiful family!

TIS THE SEASON

Indeed it is a season to be jolly! We are expecting our third grandchild in about a month, then there will be Ryan, Kimberly, Aaron, Allison and Trevor Hawkins. Kristy and Dan are expecting in July and that will make it four for us. We are so excited about the two arrivals.
I work until the Friday before Christmas so we are planning on traveling to Houston on Saturday, god willing. Not only do we get to celebrate with our whole family but we rejoice in celebrating the birth of Christ. Blessings to all at this beautiful time of the year.

Thanksgiving was a little dissapointing ! I contacted the MRSA virus and was very sick. They found out about the culture Friday and started me on two antibiotics that would fight it. After going through boils lanced, 4 shots and now oral antibiotics , hopefully I will be back to normal soon. Doctor wanted me to stay out this week and make sure im not contagious since I work at a school. Still dont have all my strength back so I'm sure I will welcome the leisure time this week. Being very sterile around Dale and praying that he does not come down with it.

Since we didnt get to go to Houston as planned, we are hoping that we will be well enough for Christmas for sure. Missing my girls, the boys and the kiddos mucho.

Busy Week

Tuesday I had a wonderful Birthday........Started out with teachers decorating my car at work and all the kids wishing me Happy Birthday after a fifth grade boy sang to me over the morning message. My friend Judy was here for a funeral so she, Kay, and my high school friend Kathy took me out to Olive Garden for dinner and wine. The girls and grandkids all called to wish me a good day also. Judy stayed until today so needless to say, we stayed up late every night chit chatting...it was so nice to have her stay with us for a few days. While I was at work, her and Dale had some good visits, which made his week special. I'm so blessed to have such special friends and a wonderful family, I thank the good Lord everyday for putting them into my life!

Ricky Martin Concert

He is a real hottie. Really, really enjoyed his concert. Not only can he dance and sing, he gave such a moving talk about faith and gratitude. The dancing that boy can do is out of sight! Oh, by the way, Judy and I didnt feel out of place.........there were some ladies there older than us. We weren't allowed to take our cameras in so Amy hid mine in her bra and I was able to snap a picture or two real quick. We were at the end of the runway, fantastic seats. I would definitely go see him again.

Going to a Concert!

My friend Judy called me yesterday and asked if I would like to go see Ricky Martin in concert with her next weekend in the valley. So guess what? Two ole grandma's are going to go see him..... I still cant believe I accepted to go, but will let you know how the outcome is, hope we dont look too stupid sitting there with our mouths open.....Amy is going with us too.

TV Mania!!!!!!

Well girls the new season for all the good shows have started. The Bachelor got off Monday as well as Dancing with the Stars. Haven't decided yet who i like for Brad yet, but I like the little race car driver with Julianne on Dancing with the Stars. Tonight is the elimination with the Private Practice following. Then of course Greys and Ugly Betty is tommorrow night. Big Shots looks pretty interesting also. I will be glued to the TV Monday thru Thursday for sure. Send your predictions this way for the Bachelor and Dancing With the Stars and I will do the same.

Kids are doing well

Talked to Kimberly yesterday and baby is quite active and still expected between the 7th and 9th of January. Aaron and Allison are loving their schools. Aaron is busy with soccer and Ali is going to dancing once a week.
Kristy and Dan and doing good! Kristy is loving her 4th grade class this year and Dan is into his hunting season right now. Dan with to Louisiana to a bachelor party this weekend so Aunt Kiki had Aaron and Allison over for the night, they love to go to her house and she loves those kiddos. My girls are so blessed to be able to live so close together.

New Doors Installed!

We finally had new doors installed.......both front and back. I have finished the painting of the trim on the front and lack one more coat on the back. Had new storm doors installed also, loving the all glass one in the front. The blinds enclosed in glass for the back was back ordered so did not get installed with the rest. I picked them up about a week later and when Dale was napping one afternoon I installed them. He thought someone had come by and done them......I said, "No I read the directions and did it myself." Have a lot of my mom in me............independent and will tackle just about anything. Been busy at school and have been exhausted when I get home. Thinking this will be my last year, working all day and keeping the house going is getting to this old lady. Hope this finds all well and will try and keep the posts more up to date. Dale is still healing well, his sore has gone from 3 centimeters to 1. Thanks for all your prayers.

The hurricane did indeed miss us! Went in down south at Mexico. By the time it reached there it had weakend somewhat. I started back to school this week with meetings after meetings. One more tomorrow and then a workday on Friday. Then the fun begins, kids come back on Monday but I'm ready to start a fresh new year. We got the news yesterday that our new grandchild which will arrive in January will be a boy. Allison will have her hands full with two brothers, but she will charm them I'm sure. We are all excited and can't wait for his arrival. Dale is still progressing well with the foot, thanks for all the prayers. Until next time........

Watching Hurricane Dean

We have been keeping an eye on Hurricane Dean. It is still in the Atlantic approaching Jamica so no serious threat to us as of yet. Going to start stocking up on water and some can foods just in case though. We will probably start thinking about doing some boarding up on Monday if it looks like it might come this way. Not too excited about staying here through it but Dale says he is not leaving so guess we will weather it through. Will keep you posted with more news as the days approach.

BACK HOME

We are back home after our 6 day trip to Houston. After arriving in Houston Tuesday, Kimberly brought the kids over that afternoon and they stayed with us at the hotel that evening.........they were so funny, they love staying at hotels. Aaron called it our new house! It was a nice two bedroom with bathroom in both, living area and full kitchen. Dale had plenty of room with his wheelchair and rested very well there. Wednesday Kristy and Kimberly came over and we all went swimming in the nice indoor pool. The kids loved the pool and I was so amazed at how well Aaron is doing in the water, Allison is a little fish herself. Thursday we all went to Kristy and Dan's house for a barbeque, Dan and Kristy are quite the hostesses and put out a good feed for us all. Dan's parents, sister , brother in law and their son came over also..........is always so nice to see them. Friday Kimberly and Ryan had a retreat to go to for their church so we had the pleasure of keeping the kids again on Friday. After Kristy's workshop she came over for the night as well and we all went swimming again. Dan came over and worked with Aaron in the pool and he mastered jumping off the side of the pool, he was so proud of himself. Saturday morning Kristy,the kids and I went to Willowbrook mall . We were able to find school clothes for all of us and later that afternoon Kimberly and Ryan came over to pick up the kids.That afternoon my nephew Wade came and gave Kristy, Dale and I a massage..................felt so good! Sunday afternoon Kimberly and I drove over to Kristy's house for a candle party where i spent all my months allowance. Afterwards Kristy, Kimberly and I drove back to Kimberly's , where Ryan, Dale , Ryan's mom and brother were waiting on us for dinner. Ryan cooked some really good fajitas..................nice to see his mom and brother again. We went back to the hotel that evening and had a relaxing evening with Kristy for our last night. Monday morning we packed up , picked up Dan for lunch and then started home. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed our quality time with the family. Dale did very well and his foot is continuing to improve. A side from us both being a little tired...........the change of pace and scenery was well needed.

Taking a Little Vacation

Dale and I are heading out for Houston tomorrow morning. We will be staying at the Residence Inn while we are up there for about 6 days. I believe the girls have gotten their heads together and pretty well planned our week out for us though. With Dale still in the wheelchair we figured he would rest better if we stayed in one place this time. Mom is coming to town with her checkbook so guess what? Both girls have a party planned at their houses for me to attend, one is a Mary Kay and the other is a Candle Party. They are still my little girls and whatever makes them happy makes me happy. Of course Nana and Papa get to keep the kids for at least one night while we are there, they love to sleep in hotels so this will be a treat for them. It is always a joy for all of us to get together.....I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family and God has healed Dale enough where we could go to the beach this summer and take this trip. He continues everyday in the healing process and I pray that he will be with us on the trip. Will be taking some photos on the trip so will post later.

Camped Out At Home Depot Today

Was at Home Depot today picking out new doors for both front and back. I didn't know it was such an ordeal! Picked out both doors, storm doors, knobs, trim........etc. They had to order one of the storm doors I picked out so it will be a couple of weeks before it is and they can install them. Which is probably just as well since we will be gone to Houston till the 13th.

Happenings over the Weekend

Haven't done much this weekend. Grandma came over for a couple of hours yesterday and I picked up Lubys for dinner. Yum...........Dan's favorite place to eat! Today we had the guy from Home Depot come by and take measurements for the new doors, front and back. I will be going tomorrow and picking out the doors and some trim. He probably wont install them until we get back from our Houston trip. Dale's foot seems to be coming along, he is still in the wheelchair and staying off of it. The nurse comes by around 8:00 a.m. and does one dressing and I do the other in the evening. Hope everyone has a good week.

Home From The Island

We are home resting after our mini vacation to the island. Kristy and Dan left this morning for HOuston. Dale and I will be leaving for Houston a week from Tuesday to stay at the Residence Inn for about 6 days to visit the girls and their families. We can do some shopping or relax in the pool while Dale relaxes in the room and watches his tv. Dan has Thursday off and wants us to come over for a Bar-B-Q. Looking forward to it!

Our Beach Trip

We are having a blast on our beach trip. We have swam in the pool, in the ocean and Dan, Kristy and I went fishing at 5:30 this morning. Even though we didnt catch anything, it was fun. Dan and Kristy are back in the ocean on their tubes floating around. Dale has been spying on them off the balcony of our condo. The condo is really nice we rented and sleeps a whole lot of people, Kristy feels like we should all get together as a family next year
for a vacation down here. Dale is definitely enjoying the change of scenery...........Pictures will be coming later!
